Brazil Nut

The Brazil nut (Bertholletia excelsa) is certainly the most important of the trees that grow wild in the Amazon estuary. Its exportation represents one of the most important incomes for the states of Pará and Amazonas.

Native to the regions of Asia Minor, the Balkans, and the Caucasus, the chestnut is the seed found inside the hedgehog, the fruit of the chestnut tree. It is estimated that its first species appeared more than 100,000 years ago, serving as one of the main sources of food for prehistoric man.

Properties

Brazil nut oil contains high amounts of fatty acids, omega 6 and 9. The latter stimulates the production of sebum in the scalp, promoting hydration. Its high selenium and vitamin E content combat free radicals and oxidative stress. The oil also helps to relieve itching and inflammation associated with many skin diseases, including eczema and acne.

Versatility

For its antioxidant and anti-aging benefits, the oil is used in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, in products such as shampoos, conditioners, and hair treatments.
